The centre supports and represents local artists and operates in Kabale, Uganda, in partnership with Studio Edirisa. One of the Centre's main aims is to bring together Ugandan and international artists to promote the growth of the arts in the region. The centre also initiates and supports development projects in the Kabale area, including the Street School Project and the William Morris Sixth Form/Kigezi High School Partnership (WSMF/KHS).
The Kabale Arts Centre is located in the Home of Edirisa in Kabale town. The Centre's local coordinator and curator is Asiimwe Ivan Bagamba. Ivan is the Head of Art In Kigezi High School, a painter and a prominent member of the Kabale cummunity. He coordinated the selection of artists for the Centre's inaugural show, co-curated it, and is exhibiting work.
The Kabale Arts Centre launched its inaugural show, Kabale Generations, on 13 April 2010. On show were the works of Kabale artists at different stages of their careers.
In November 2009, the Kabale Arts Centre curated a room for Kappatos Rooms 2009 in Athens, Greece. The Room was titled the Kabale Arts Centre Road Show and displayed work by Kabale artists.
